New Features, Better Search
Written by P R Ganapathy

We are delighted to announce several new features that will continue to advance the Gridstone platform as one of the most unique new offerings in the field of company research.

Semantic search for Line Items: Search for ‘Capex’ in our database of Line Items and we’ll now return lines like “Purchases of Property, Plant & Equipment’ or ‘Capital Additions’. This ability to understand financial terminology is unique to Gridstone. We think you will find this very useful.

Guided navigation of Line Item search results: Just like our Commentary search results, you can now filter your Line Item search results by Ticker, Reporting Group, or Break-out type.

Disambiguation: Our search engine now differentiates between CHINA (the ticker), and China the search term for the country, or between CRM the ticker (Salesforce.com) and the acronym “CRM” (meaning ‘Customer Relationship Management’ or ‘Credit Risk Management’).

Browse our Coverage Universe: Since we now cover over 1,700 companies (an addition of over 400 companies last quarter), we’ve upgrade our “Company Coverage” feature to make it easier to browse the universe of covered companies. Just click on the "Current Coverage List" on the Home Page.

Data in more cells: When it comes to deeper data, companies don’t always report it uniformly – they sometimes say that something “grew by 9%”, for example. Where possible, we now compute the number for you, so that the time series for a Line Item is more complete. For example, in this screenshot, the number for the fourth quarter has been computed from the annual number and numbers for the first three quarters.

These are just a few of the new features in this release, and we hope we find all of them useful. Thank you for your suggestions, feedback and support!
