We closed a Series B round led by Helion Ventures, with existing investors Charles River and Maverick Capital participating. The press release is here .
With this round Ashish Gupta of Helion joins our board. Ashish is an ex-geek (Ph.D. Stanford, IBM Research), ex-entrepreneur (junglee.com which sold to amazon.com), long-time angel investor turned VC. His close familiarity with the problem of creating useful structured information from unstructured information and his long experience of helping tech startups will be very welcome. Izhar Armony of CRV and Dave Singer of Maverick have been great board members. We are glad to be able to add someone like Ashish to the board.

This describes the end-user benefit. But for those who are interested in such matters, it still doesn’t answer the question of what we actually do.
I recently returned from my first visit to the Gridstone Research facilities in Mumbai, India. Being a seasoned business traveler, I have gotten pretty adept at being able to anticipate what results to expect both from a business perspective and cultural experience during a trip. This trip exceeded all my expectations.
With the general release of version 1.1 of our application platform, coupled with the availability of extended coverage in the technology sector, users are fully experiencing the value of incorporating the Gridstone platform into their research process.
Just got back from a trip to India. It is always feels good to be at our Mumbai Research Center. As a company we are ‘wired to be global’. But if there is a center of mass of the company it is in Mumbai.
