Anything that I say about information overload in the internet age will be just that. You heard it before many, many times. However, in the world of public companies there is one other matter that amplifies this problem Regulation Fair Disclosure. Public companies put much more information out there than they used to. Luckily, they can no longer whisper into the ear of their favourite sell-side analyst. All of this information is publicly available.

If you are in Investment Management or any other profession where analyzing companies is a core part of your job, you probably haven't given much thought lately to the process that you employ in company research. It is what it is "you think" and it ain't changing. Well, we think otherwise.

The big, yawning hole in today's company research tools is in how unstructured information is managed. They give you a few numbers and then expect you to read long documents for the rest of it. Gridstone hopes to change the way you think of this process. We combine numbers and management commentary from public sources to give you a unified platform for company research.

Over the next few weeks we will be talking more about these and other matters pertaining to company research. Also, we will use this blog to publish some analysis that we think you might benefit from. So keep coming back!
